It's the most wonderful time of the year

No, not the Christmas song. Not even Christmas-time.

I'm talking about Autumn. Fall. Right now.

The heat of summer gives way (even in Iraq) to the cool breezes and the amazing and bright colors of nature (ok, I'll give you this one, everything in Iraq still seems to be some shade of brown). The grass stops growing and you can put away the lawnmower for another year. The leaves turn from green to brilliant shades of yellow, orange and red.

The baseball playoffs begin (and even if the Phillies haven't made it, again), and after 162 seemingly meaningless games, each game actually means something.

Football is in full-swing: you can catch college games on ESPN on Thursday nights, high school games in person on Friday nights, a whole day of college football on Saturday (perhaps even at the game), and another entire day of professional football on Sunday. Add to that the bonus of Monday Night Football and it's almost overwhelming. Almost.

The NASCAR season comes down to the last ten races and each lap can mean the difference between making the Chase or not, trying to avoid "the big one" at Talladega, or finishing the season strong to take the Championship.

For me, this is my favorite time of the year (perhaps not this particular year, but you know, in general!). What about you?
