Baltimore police officer dies in Pa. crash

From FOX45 Baltimore:
A 33-year veteran of the Baltimore Police Department has been killed in a single-vehicle accident in central Pennsylvania.

Baltimore police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi says 61-year-old Officer James Fowler died after the crash on U.S. 22 around 5:30 p.m. Monday. Guglielmi says investigators believe inclement weather caused Fowler to run his pickup truck off the road and crash into a concrete barrier.

He says Fowler was on his way to Penn State University, about 20 miles away, to participate in a training program on accident investigation. Fowler was an accident investigator for the department's traffic section.

Fowler was a Navy veteran and leaves behind a wife and two children. Guglielmi says Police Commissioner Frederick Bealefeld is meeting with the officer's family.
Devastating news; my thoughts and prayers are with the Fowler family on their tragic loss.
