Saturday Night Fights, Week 2

More boxing tonight, and after commenting on last week's fights, I was asked to judge tonight. They even announced me as the "Chief Judge", although I don't think that means anything special!

The first match went only 53 seconds! The eventual winner stunned his opponent with a punch that finished him. He shook his head back and forth, clearly stunned by the punch, and it was clear that he wasn't quite sure where he was! The ref called the match there.

The second contest matched two fighters in the 160-lb category but as opposite as they come. The red fighter was about 6 feet 2 inches with a long reach, while his opponent in blue was pushing 5'6". It was a close match that came down to round three. I judged the blue fighter the winner, voting in the majority with a 2-1 split decision.

The third contest matched two KBR employees that pounded away at each other through the first round. However, the match was ended when fighter couldn't continue. He was clearly winded from the first round and I was later told was a smoker. It was clear to me that he could barely breath! It was a good call by the ref to call it off.

The final contest matched two Marines that went a round and a half. One fighter developed a nosebleed that wouldn't stop, which ended the match.

Not much work for the judges, but all in all, another fun night of boxing. Looking forward to more next week!
